What Apple's monitor does better
We may as well say it directly, because it is what really decides.
Video calls. A 12 MP camera with automatic framing, three microphones, six speakers with spatial audio. If you spend three hours a day in meetings and have neither a webcam nor a headset, that is a coherent package we do not replace.
Integration. Settings exposed natively in macOS, firmware updates through the system, instant resume on waking. Our monitors behave like standard monitors: very well, but without that layer of integration.
The hub. Three USB-C ports on the back against more conventional connectivity on ours.
What we do better
Contrast. 2000:1 against around 1200:1. On black text on white it is barely visible; on photography, video and any interface in dark mode, the gap is clear.
Refresh rate. Apple's monitor stays at 60 Hz. The G27P reaches 75 Hz, the P27Z 180 Hz. Once you are used to high-refresh scrolling, going back to 60 Hz is noticeable immediately.
Price. It is obvious, but it deserves quantifying: at identical resolution and density, the difference lets you buy a good webcam, a decent headset, a desk arm, and still keep a margin.

It is no longer in the catalogue. That is what created a gap in the high-end 32-inch segment, which our G32P now fills. Worth noting: it too had no camera, no speakers and no microphones — the video-call argument does not apply to that comparison.

Is it the same panel?
The resolution and the density are identical: 5120 × 2880 at 218 ppi, with 600 nits on both sides. The G27P states higher contrast, at 2000:1 against around 1200:1.
What do you lose by choosing Kuycon?
The 12 MP camera, the six speakers, the three microphones, native integration into the macOS settings and the three-port USB-C hub. Nothing on image quality.
What do you gain?
Higher contrast, a refresh rate of 75 Hz against 60 Hz, and a considerably lower price at equal resolution and density.
Is the text as crisp?
Yes: 218 ppi corresponds exactly to the density for which macOS applies 2× scaling with no interpolation. It is the same rendering.
Does it work with no configuration on a Mac?
Yes, connected directly over USB-C. The monitor is recognised as a standard display; brightness is set from its own controls rather than from the macOS settings.
